About Qigong

Qigong has been noted in the Ancient Medical Text of China—Yellow Emperor"s Canon of Internal Medicine, Volume One to be efficacious in therapy, prevention and homeostasis. It is a holistic way of maintaining good health through harmony between the Spirit, Mind and Body of a person. This is done through cultivation of a person's inherent potential to promote their inner life-force.

The subject of Qigong is all-embracing; it encompasses science, philosophy, religion and other related practices into a unified field of study.

Qigong is a multi-disciplinary science, which is also preventative medicine featuring healing, fitness and anti-aging.

Qigong encompasses acupuncture, herbology, massage (reflexology, shiatsu), exercises, martial arts, meditation and healing; all inter-related and working with our energy system.

Mechanism

Qigong techniques work by regulating the function of brain cells, including the central nervous system and the autonomic system. It can also stimulate the endocrine system and enhance immune capability.

Essence

Achieve harmony between the body and the mind through respiration. One must be in a state of relaxation and enter into oneself where inner peace dwells. The discipline of practice enables one to achieve the benefits of healing, well being and attain your personal potential.

Master Michael Shen teaches easy to learn methods to quickly improve your energy level, health and sense of well being through the ancient art of Qigong movements presented in a workshop format.

Qigong is also sometimes spelt Chigong, or Chikung, or Qi-Gong, or Chi-Kung. They are all the same thing. The standard pronunciation is "chee-gong".
